Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

What's the purpose of being a developer if you can't talk about your fancy products? Here's a list of the things I use on a daily basis.

Workstation

  • AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, RTX 3070, 64GB DDR4 RAM @ 3.600MT/s

My desktop machine is my pride and joy. Featuring some fancy hardware, NZXT watercooling, RGB and storage for days. It’s the perfect machine for my needs.

  • 14” MacBook Pro, M1, 32GB RAM

I was using a Dell XPS prior to switching to Apple, and I’m very happy with my choice. The M1 chip is blazing fast, and the battery life is amazing.

  • 27” Samsung Odyssey G5

The perfect combination of size, resolution, and refresh rate. Outside of my working hours I love watching series on Netflix and playing games, and this monitor is a great choice for both.

  • Corsair Gaming K95 RGB Platinum Cherry

I’ve been using this keyboard for years now and I’m still very happy with it. I’m a huge fan of the Cherry MX Brown switches, and with the marco keys and media controls it’s the perfect keyboard for me.

  • Logitech MX Master 3S

This mouse shouldn’t need an introduction. Logitech’s MX series are the best mice that I have ever used, and I’ll never switch to something else.

  • IKEA Markus

It’s a chair. It’s comfortable. It’s cheap. What else is there to say?

Audio setup

  • Sony WH-1000XM5

My go-to headphones for when I’m not home. Amazing sound quality, noise cancellation and battery life.

  • Sennheiser HD 660 S

In my opinion one of the best value for money headphones out there. They’re comfortable, and the sound quality is amazing.

  • Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

This audio interface functions as my headphone and speaker output, and the input for my microphone. Also, the two input channels are really handy for quickly mixing in other audio sources.

  • Audio-Technica AT2020

For only € 90 this microphone is a steal. The sound quality is amazing, so that I can sound crispy clear during meetings.

Development tools

  • PhpStorm

My IDE of choice. I’ve been using it for years now, and I’m still very happy with it. I’ve heavily customized it with plugins and themes by now, and will probably never switch to anything else.

  • Tinkerwell

If you love Laravel Tinker, you’ll love Tinkerwell even more. It’s an amazing tool for quickly running code snippets, whilst having the hot-reload that I miss with Tinker.

  • Spatie Ray

My favorite debugging tool. Super easy to use, and it’s a great way to quickly debug code of any application.

Tech stack

  • Laravel, Livewire, Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js

My favourite PHP framework. Whenever I start a new project, I don’t even need to think about what framework to use, because I know that Laravel is the best choice for me.

Productivity

  • Notion

From quickly taking notes to writing to-do lists and standup reports, Notion is my go-to text editor.

  • Linear

I’m a huge fan of Linear. It’s the perfect tool for managing tasks and projects, and it works better than any other project management tool that I’ve used.
